On Such a Winter's Day
On Such a Winter's Day
Synopsis: The play is a series of monologues for women, each with its own name, each of which reflects certain desires and longings, fulfilled and not, all revolving around California, ground zero for the American Dream. It portrays the lives of seven figures who have staked their claim on the western edge of the country, as far as you can go without heading into the sea. Some of the characters in this new play are relative newcomers; others are celebrities and/or from families which have been in California for generations. All are lost and perhaps found souls, stranded in one way or another, hoping to reinvent themselves in the land of magic and beauty and sun where possibilities are everywhere and today is the first day of the rest of your life. Or so the myth proclaims.
The Argument: Have you ever dreamt of a story and characters that you thought would never have the opportunity to see come to life on the stage? Those stories, lost in years of imagination can be found at the Helen Borgers 2025 New Works Festival. The time is right to see your show, your lost dreams, on our stage!
